On Tuesday, 3/15, I listened in on two radio shows. The You Might Be A Cowboy If… and WWW News Show aired that night. The first one that played was the WWW New Show which was PHENOMENAL. The hard work was apparent in this group and it sounded like a true news show. The commercials sounded so clear and professional that they could actually go on air. The background music they used was extremely well placed and kept my interest in the show. The bumpers also kept me going. The use of accents was also great and made it seem like there were a bunch of different people in on the show and not just a few. You Might Be A Cowboy If… was more of a music radio station. The first portion consisted of a small talk show/comedy show. Then all bumpers and commercials were put in between and after was three country songs. There was work put into this show but I personally feel like it needed a little bit more talking. It was good though and I really did enjoy the music selection! Tonight (3/17) is when my groups show, Turning Tumbleweeds, and I can only hope it’ll live up to these two shows I listened to!
So my groups radio show is coming along quite nicely! Two of the members offered to put all the audio together, another wrote us general plot to go off of and I just email all the information when needed. I finished my segment over spring break pretty early since I left for vacation and didn’t have my laptop with me. I know the group is expected to finish up their own segment tonight and send it in tonight. Also pretty much everyone had their own bumper and commercial ready so all in all this group is kicking butt on this project! I can’t wait to hear the finished show.
This is our first week working on the radio show and I think we got a lot hammered out. Our group is named the Gals of the West and consists of 6 of our characters and they take on a murder mystery! We used Google doc to spitball ideas and come up with who is doing what. On Tuesday, 2/23, we had a little meeting over the google doc to come up with our plot, who is assembling the audio and when things are due, how long each segment will be, what bumpers and commercials will be used and things of that nature. Everyone has been really active throughout the entire process and I send out summary emails and reminders when they are needed. All in all this week was just about planning and finishing up our bumpers and commercials and we did just that. Over spring break I believe we will all work on our portion of the show and then have it all compiled during the week after.
So this post is just a nice little rough draft of what could be a good radio show. Like so rough that it’s in bullet points and this is all I have. I imagine everyone’s characters will have to tie in as well as what their characters do so these are some brief ideas.
- a cowboy/girl murder mystery
- Someone moving out west and their story there
- a western mystery in general
- a lone westerner, his companion and their adventures
- a cowboy/girl getting revenge on someone who wronged them
- a gold mine fiasco
- when the west meets the future
